Take away

A series of photographs documenting the huge variety of take-away food available in Waltham Forest. Portraits were taken in collaboration with the shop workers and were displayed as part of a group exhibition with Image17

In 2010 twelve artists and photographers, Image17, collaborated to document the rich tapestry of life in the London Borough of Waltham Forest and displayed the work in a single 15 metre long installation in response to Grayson Perry’s Walthamstow Tapestry and as part of the annual E17 Art Trail.

By working in collaboration with each other, the artists are challenging the way they work, the nature of ownership and collective responsibility within the local community. Each artist’s work was interspersed with each other’s in the display, spread out and displayed as part of a single group installation, in an empty open-plan office space in Tower Mews, in the centre of Walthamstow.
